Edge Crush Test is a new standard that has achieved a widespread acceptance. It is considered as being a true performance test and is directly related to the stacking strength of a carton. ECT value represents the edgewise compressive strength of corrugated board. It is measured in ponds per linear inch (lb/in) and usually reported as ECT value (Ex: 40 ECT).

This part of the box certificate specifies the maximum weight this box will hold. Boxes loaded above the “Gross WT. LT.” will tend to get damaged very easily. Legally, a shipper can refuse to pay a damage claim if a damaged box was loaded beyond it’s capacity.
